Forum for an alternative photography.
"ALTER • IMAGE", WHAT IS IT?
“Alter • Image" wants to increase the visibility
of alternative photographic works whose artistic sensitivity lie outside mainstream
and consensual photographic trends. A space and time for expression are thus offered to a wider range of
photographic propositions.The
call for contributions should interest every photographer pursuing a quality
approach based on a clearly identified artistic idea and exploring new paths
based on either technical innovation, or novel artistic vision.
5 to 15 photographs that are representative of the approach will be
accompanied by a text explaining the artistic concept and pointing out the
elements that contribute to its singular nature.
WHO ORGANIZES "ALTER • IMAGE" ?
Alter • Image is organized by "les Amis de Rendez-vous • Image": a group of passionate supporters of photography, eager to promote original photographic works that may have difficulty to find a place in classical call for entries.

Publication of the list of participants: July 5, 2017
Publication of the laureates: July 15, 2017
WHY PARTICIPATE?
Alter • Image gives laureates visibility and the possibility to share their works while benefiting from the reputation of Rendez-vous • Image.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
For this first edition, registration to Alter • Image ist free of charge.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
To participate to the "Alter • Image" contest, the registration form must be completed before the deadline. It is not necessary to create an account but the given e-mail address must be checked in order to assure smooth communication between the author and the RDV•I staff.
Once step 1 has been completed, you will receive a mail with a security code. You can then come back to this page and continue with step 2.

Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy
I consider my photographic pieces to be similar to short films, without a cinematic timeline, with a silent soundtrack. The concept for my work, "Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy" is inspired by the novel of the same name, written by John le Carré in 1974. The protagonist of my story is, a MI6 agent Bill Haydon, played by Colin Firth in the film adaptation of the novel, directed by Tomas Alfredson in 2011. First, I wrote my original story which was inspired by the novel and film, then I made the following story with the series of photographs. The idea of my story came from my imagination, about Haydon's skeptical feeling and his question to his mission and society. Before he betrayed his country by turning to be a KGB double agent in U.S.S.R, he might have small conversation with his best friend or family, about his doubtful feeling to the society. Some elements in the photos are represented in the film and novel as well. Also, the photos of the Ferris wheel and the big tent are the symbol of "Circus", which is the code name for KGB in MI6, in the film and novel.

Je prends des photos de matières depuis des années. Elles prennent aujourd'hui tout leur sens et leur place dans mes images. Le hasard propose...la matière suggère...
"Miscellanées" Chaque oeuvre est une image photographique hybride. Chaque image est composée de photographies... Ma photothèque matiériste me permet d'ouvrir les portes de l'espace temps et de l'imaginaire...

La fabrica fantasma
N'imaginez pas un discours politique ou militant autour des sites industriels et leurs inconvénients. Ne voyez dans cette série rien d'autre qu'une volonté purement graphique. Son origine est tout simplement le sentiment ambigu que l'on ressent quand on longe certains sites industriels, entre attirance visuelle et inquiétude. La volonté d'un traitement visuel esthétisant de ces sites l'a finalement emporté. Flou et grain sont chez moi assez récurrents, le choix de l'argentique, avec le côté aléatoire dans la superposition des vues, fait partie du processus d'élaboration de cette série qui, peu à peu, tend vers une abstraction démentie par les premières images qui permettent d'identifier le sujet malgré son effacement progressif.
